The Worlds Tallest Structure: Fri 18th May - Fri 1st June

Brief:
Create a background plate with the main emphasis being the tallest structure in the world. Any era, any location!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The choice is yours if you wish to make it HD 1280x720 or if you would like it to be submitted to Ballistic Publishing for their upcoming 'Matte Painting 2' book then it is recommended you make it:
2657 pixels wide and/or 3636 high, 300 DPI (portrait)
or 3636 pixels wide and/or 2657 pixels high, 300 DPI (landscape)
Saved as an uncompressed TIFF

here are my efforts. i would have liked more time to be able to correct the lighting and shadows. the building tops need to have more pink light skimming over them. i might continue it over the weekend:

Nice one man!!
I really like the colors and the mood.
Maybe you could improve the distant buildings. Right now the transition between middleground and background buildings is a bit odd isnt it?
Try to add a layer of haze/fog to enhance more depth.
The river looks solid instead of water. I guess is for the reflections?

wicked mat. its comming along really well.
one little thing: the sky on either sides of the central tower do not match up enough: the sunset seems cut off where it hits the tower. really strong piece mate: look forward to the final. |
