tricky one this - spent way too long but didnt seem to get much done?
still i thought i'd post to show i'm still up for the speedpainting goodness!
tried some more today, but just didnt know where to take it - trying to avoid my usual "techniques"...doesnt always work anyway
i'll keep on trucking though!

nice one all....but mya you blow my mind evertime your lighting is just sexy, how do you do it ....TELL ME!!!!!!!
but seriously how?
I mainly just strait paint stuff but it’s a bit slow and fiddly, but I get the feeling that you use more overlay layer type or liner dodge brush stuff I’m I right? Or is it all just you mad skills.

I started with a couple of overlays - the ones you got from Jake, fiddled around with them using a hue-saturation, then just painted into them - I started around a midtone, then blocked in darker shapes for the figures, used a levels layer and a soft round brush to create some 'bloomy' areas, and copied+pasted another overlay into the mask of another levels layer to create the bright splodgy bits in the background.
Plus, having a couple of Mullins pics open at the same time helps.
