Joining in for CritsI missed the deadline for the EOW last week, but finished it monday evening anyway. About 3 evenings in Photoshop.
Thought I would show you guys.
I dont think I will ever go back to it.Sort of learn and move on thing.
Elements of it I dont like,
* I planned on adding a ship in the left background for balance, hence the empty space.
* I dont like the position of the ship in the middle ground.
* Foreground need more work
Anyway would appreciate your opinons guys.

Nice one gerard!
I did a quick paintover to show you my thoughts about your painting.
Your horitzon is too close to the middle of the canvas, and this is not good.
I did a bit of color correction and I add a bit of haze in the middle background.
I hope it helps

I forgot about the comp.
I add a Pipe to enhance the composition, and have a clear visual path to the main ship.
Now you have 3 steps, the Pipe, the broken boat and the ship.

one minor crit gerard, i think the main ship looks a bit 'thin' i would add some bevelled edges particuarly on its far side: where the chimney is.
when i say 'thin' i dont mean the proportions: i mean the material thickness. it comes from having such hard eges perhaps?

I like the added atmosphere in the midground.
Composition wise, I did have a feature in the left foreground , closer than the bouy, I think it makes it too enclosed and its not exactly what I was going for.
Trying different shapes there now dont seem to fit as the compostion as a whole does not fit with it. "If you know what I mean"
I think when I add the ship in the distance on the left it might balance the flow from left to right more.
Hopefully it should turn out ok.
Your right guys this is good, we all get too close to our stuff, " cant see the wood for the trees" sort of thing.
